As a teenager, Wubit was struck by the fact that many of her female classmates were missing school every month. Driven by a desire to help, Wubit began experimenting with materials she could find locally. Her curiosity and resourcefulness led her to banana fiber-a sustainable, biodegradable material that could be transformed into affordable sanitary pads. Despite limited resources and no formal training in product design, she taught herself how to extract, clean, and process the fibers. The first pads she made were simple, but they worked.
